Natural Treatment for Menstrual Migraine: Easy Techniques for Feet and Hands
Are you looking for a natural treatment for menstrual migraines? In this article, I offer some simple tips to reduce menstrual migraines, easily applicable at home. You will find easy techniques to repeat, on the ears, hands, or feet, chosen according to your preference (and flexibility).
It is best to prioritize these techniques daily when performed at home. For a reflexology session and natural menstrual migraine treatment at the practice, I advise you to book an appointment 10 to 15 days before the start of your period.
Techniques for the Foot
On the feet (we work on both feet in this natural treatment for menstrual migraine), we will focus heavily on the big toe and the heel. But not only, of course! Other areas are involved, and I will detail them right away!

In the case of treating menstrual migraine, it will be important to start by massaging the toes. You can begin with the big toe, vertically, horizontally, especially underneath but also on top, and along the edges. The big toe is where zones like the epiphysis, pituitary gland, and glands that control the hormonal system are located. These are often sensitive areas, so proceed gradually! You can stay on this part of the foot for at least 3 minutes.
Next, you will massage all the other toes. For ease, you can favor a vertical massage (from bottom to top, for example). Don’t forget to massage the top of the toes as well. Here you will find reflex zones linked to neurotransmitters, which support certain bodily functions and aim for a more global balance.
The liver is also an important area to massage as part of this treatment. It is located only on the right foot. It is a vast reflex zone, much like the organ itself. Therefore, do not hesitate to spend time on it, covering it horizontally and vertically, using a gliding touch if that is more comfortable for you.

Finally, you can massage the heel
The heel is an important area in the natural treatment of menstrual migraine because it contains reflex zones related to the gynecological system. You can focus on the entire edge of the heel (where cracks may appear in some people), underneath, on the inner edge, and the outer edge (under the external malleolus). These areas can be sensitive, even painful, so listen to your body and go more gently if needed.

Hand Techniques that also Provide Relief
We will focus on the thumb and wrist areas for the hand. The massage for menstrual migraine should be performed on both hands.
Just like the big toe on the foot, the thumb contains important reflex zones for managing and controlling the hormonal system.
Next, you can focus on the wrist. This is a reflex zone that includes the ovaries, particularly in their endocrine dimension (which is relevant here for natural menstrual migraine treatment). As clearly shown on the mapping below (taken from Madeleine Turgeon’s book “Energie et réflexologie”), the red band at the very bottom spans the entire width of the wrist. It is very important to thoroughly massage this area, on both the inner and outer parts of the wrist.

You now have two tools for natural menstrual migraine treatment at your disposal: your hands and feet! These self-massages should be practiced daily to have a real impact on your migraine. To schedule a reflexology session at the practice, it is best to aim for the ovulation period or the 15 days preceding your next cycle.
If you wish to learn more about migraine and plantar reflexology, I have included an article I wrote on the subject right here!
I look forward to seeing you at the practice for a session! By the way, I’m Fiona, a reflexologist in Geneva 🙂

UN PEU DE MOI
Hello !
